Teaching

is the art of assisting discovery.

Jelica Mijanovic is a guitar and guitar ensemble instructor at Mohawk College, Hamilton. She obtained a Master's degree in Music Pedagogy from the University of Applied Arts and Sciences of Western Switzerland in 2011. She teaches in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Serbian language.

Jelica Mijanovic was an Associate Professor at the University of Applied Arts and Sciences of Western Switzerland from 2016 to 2019. Between 2012 and 2019, she taught at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique, Dance et Theatre in Geneva, at the Conservatoire de Fribourg, at Musikschule Leimental (Baselland), and at Konsi Bern. Jelica has been invited across Europe to a dozen international festivals as a lecturer or jury member. She also held a masterclass at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo.

In 2012 Jelica published The most beautiful classical pieces for young musicians â€“ a collection of classical music masterpieces she transcribed for beginners, with the financial support of the Montenegrin Ministry of Culture.

Jelica tailors each lesson in a way that empowers her students to strengthen the connection between their character, the geo-historical context of the composition and the science that music is built upon.
